Today we are making a menpachi miso soup with miso paste, somen noodles using an original miso recipe. We caught this menpachi fishing and hunting with a three prong or hawaiian sling spear. Spearfishing in Hawaii is a popular past time. Lots of Hawaiians also fish menpachi at night and catch and cook the fish. Fishing in Hawaii is one of the most popular activities as we are surrounded by ocean. Fish recipes, Hawaiian food, Japanese food is all a part of our melting pot of different ethnicities.
