Whenever we visit Hawaii, Susan has to visit Helena’s for a taste of home.

Laulau are what she misses most, while I enjoy the Pipikaula Beef
Shortribs, which I think are the best on the island! Have those with a side of Poi or white rice.

For a place that can sometimes have lines out the door, the service is amazingly fast.

Parking is very sparse. Susan recommends the #2 bus if you are coming from Waikiki.

Other winners on their menu are the Fried Butterfish Collars if you can get them, Squid Luau, Chicken Long Rice and Kalua Pork.

Watch out for the Chili Peppa Watta on the table as it is spicier than most I have had on the island!

I finally ate some hawaiian food! I bought this from a smal mom & pop shop in my neighborhood. They call their very tssty chicken, “crack chicken” 🙂 They do not disappoint!

Join us for days 8 through 10 of our Hawaii adventure! On day 8, we tried kaiten sushi at Ginza Onodera to compare it to the Japan locations, grabbed takeout from Helena’s Hawaiian Food, shopped for Miffy goodies at DFS, and enjoyed dinner at Aloha Melt.

Day 9 was packed with fun! We had udon at Tsurutontan with friends, shared a champagne moment at Dior, strolled through the strip hitting ABC Store and Longs Drugs, picked up the famous salad dressing from Fresh Catch, and grabbed poke from Off the Hook. We ended the day with sweets from Ubae, Liliha Bakery’s poi donuts and coco puffs, and learning how to properly “CHEEEHOOO” from locals.

Finally, on day 10, we picked up our last poke from Tamura’s, malasadas from Leonard’s, and enjoyed our second time flying first class with Hawaiian Airlines. It’s been an unforgettable trip 🥹🩵
