Did you know you can try authentic Hawaiian dishes right here in the Virginia Beach Area?

Kahiau’s Bakery and Cafe has been in the Virginia Beach area for three years and is owned by a seven-year vegan lover.

The owner moved from Philly in 2014 to Hawaii and started selling cakes. This led her to want to come to the Virginia Beach area to share her love of vegan food.

Want to learn how to cook vegan food? Stop by Kahiahiua’s Bakery & Cafe the last Saturday of every month or O’Connor Brewing Co in Norfolk the third Sunday of every month to learn how to cook vegan food. Classes are open to any cooking experience level and whether your vegan or not.

Known for their summer whiskey barbeque burger that features pineapple, the restaurant made whiskey barbeque sauce, and cheese. It will be back on their menu in May. Right now they feature their Irish burger that features caramelized onions, mashed potatoes, and cheese.

We have been to Hawaii in 2017 after our marriage. We traveled to Big Island and Maui island. It was the first time we experimented with the drone and it went all well. We used DJI Phantom 3 to get aerial shots. The trip is a memorable one since we had a lot of sweet moments and got to explore the Hawaiian food, culture, and nature for almost 14 days.

Adam Williams and Ben Nyberg are like the Indiana Joneses of plant conservation, leading the crusade to preserve Hawaii’s most distinct — and endangered — plants.

Hawaii’s biodiversity is unique, largely because of its isolation: Nearly 90% of native plants don’t grow anywhere else in the world, according to the state’s Department of Land and Natural Resources. But that isolation has also left it vulnerable to threats like invasive species and environmental changes. So even though Hawaii makes up less than 1% of U.S. landmass, it’s now home to nearly 45% of all endangered and threatened plants in the U.S.
